OMG, if you go nowhere else in Cabo San Lucas, this is the one place you need to be at. Homemade pasta‘s, amazing muscles, and a staff that will blow your socks off. Carlos, as manager of DOC, Runs the place with super efficiency and...friendliness. You feel like you’re local, and that you belong here. I can’t say enough about the food, service, and treatment. A total must have!!!
We arrived in Cabo for a quarantine and atationed in Nobu Hotel, a little far for the te center. Duo to Covid restrictions the major restaurants inside hotels are not taking parties of six, so our options got limited. The concierge had arranged for us...to go to Toro but since the reservation was for 8 pm, we would have a time limit and we enjoy taking our time eating and drinking, so we decide to reserve on our own what was available. We went and reserved DOC Wine out of the blue based on the good reviews, time available for 6 at 7pm and the menu, it looked cozy and the food looked amazing. When I asked the concierge he did not encourage us much, but we took a shot. We are not going to lie, the first impression is not that great. One table occupied outside and a family of tree with a little baby inside. The table available for us was a hidden one in the corner, a little dark. We even consider having a drink and split in order to get to the other reservation on time. And them, we saw the wine list and the very friendly Maître Tacuba (who speaks perfect English, by the way). We decided on a bottle of Mexican wine and the home made burrata with a special crostini, comfortable but still considering splitting after the starters, when them, had our second surprise for the night. They had gluten free home made pasta. Thad was essential for a member of the group an a turning point for all. And maybe this has been our best decision so far. The burrata was creamy and the pesto the came with it was delicious. The cheese selection that we had wit our wine was very good as were the crostini and the breads. The salad with goat cheese and a home made dried tomatoes (that’s right) gave us certainty that the main courses were going to be wonderful. Actually, everything was so good that we had to wait an hour or so for our starters to “settle down” before ordering the mais courses, and those were as follows: A Short Ribs Ravioli with a creamy truffle sauce, an Arrabiata with the perfect amount of heat, the gluten free spaghetti with Bolognese ragut slowly made the right way and a very tender, very well seasoned chicken parmigiana and at the end a majestic lasagna. All shared among the table. At the end 3 and a half hours had past among friends very satisfied and pleased with the decision to go off main stream and experience the best surprise in Cabo so far, for a very reasonable price. It is not only worth a try, but worth come back to. Next time, I’m going be the one who is going to suggest my concierge on a good spot to eat.
We had dinner twice at DOC in the last week. Both times fabulous. Enjoyed fish and pasta. Food was very fresh. Servings were plentiful. Great wine list. Our favorite restaurant in Cabo.
