Food was delicious and the staff were friendly and very helpful. If we ever go back to Calais we are definitely returning to this little gem.
I have too much time on my hands. Before heading to Calais for a couple of days, I planned it with precision. I had written down restaurants in order of preference. I had a top five that we would choose one from to eat. We were staying at the Ibis Styles on Rue Royale and as we walked out of the hotel we were drawn to the restaurant opposite. It wasn't one on my list and not in the top 20 on Tripadvisor but as it looked so inviting, it was fresh, cool and contemporary, we decided to have a glass of wine whilst deciding on where to go for supper (from my list). We sat outside on a cool October evening in the most relaxing chairs with most gorgeous glass of wine and with the patio heaters on, we felt like it was August in St Tropez! To cut a long story short, we didn't want to leave and from where I sat I could see a lady in the kitchen working her magic over a hot stove. I just knew that whatever we ordered was going to be amazing and it was. It was better than amazing it was incredible! Thank you ladies for making our night in Calais so very special. We are planning on coming back so we can do our night again. Let's hope they can get into the top 20 on here. They are new and despite their amazing ratings so far, I think only having 4 reviews doesn't help them. They are fabulous!
Found this one by accident on the second night of our trip,,wow what a lovely restaurant, the atmosphere was lovely and lively, staff were friendly and food was great, portions were amazing size, you could happily share one dish amongst two adults, everything was cooked fresh, they catered for kids even fussy ones, drinks were reasonable too. Lovely location as we could hear he entertainment from the main stage located on he square.
Visited with family whilst passing through Calais. The waitress was very welcoming and friendly; food was served efficiently and was good for a snack lunch.
Two starters: fish soup with cheese and croutons to garnish. Ok but croutons were very oily. Pate with pickles and lettuce, lettuce was brown around the edges and going rotten. Two mains: mussels, one mariniere which was ok, other with Provençal sauce which was not good at all. I found a 1 inch long metal HOOK in my mussels! Then I found a mussel shell packed full of grit! I stopped eating them at that point. The mussels weren't very nice and were tiny. We didn't bother with desserts! They discounted 1 wine and 1 beer off the bill, about 7 euros. The service was good though, and the wine was nice.
