Contribuisci feedbackAmazing food(even for us vegetarians which is rare in Goa) The salads that they recommended had us going back for seconds the next day. The cocktails are excellent. The best Burmese restaurant in Goa by far. Bonita and Trupti(the owners) are extremely kind and talkative(in a good way) and ensure there isn't a dull moment when you are there. My wife and I are looking forward to visit again the next time we are in Goa.
Restaurant : Zwe by Golden Eye. Cuisine Type : Burmese Attention: The taste and the service will make you visit often often!!! Okay so here goes my first and special review of the Burmese Cuisine of which I recently became a fan of....! I might be lack of words for this particular review as it was so unique experience of the taste, the decorum and the service we enjoyed at this Burmese restaurant. We really loved and admire the work of these two beautiful ladies who made our Easter evening so special. Trupti gave us such a good and informative idea about of what a Burmese food is all about. The way she explained was exactly right on the platter. Wow! Bonita and Trupti made us so comfortable and gave us the perfect service throughout our dining time. We completely adore them for the extra hard work they putting in to bring the Burmese cuisine in the limelight! About food : It’s been 2 days passed and I can still remember and feel the taste of such a tasty food we had. As per their suggestion we tried 1) Pork Screwers They were just a blast of flavours in our mouth. Nicely marinated, tender, juicy and extremely good in taste! It is a must try dish! Marinated in a stone grinded paste of lemon grass, ginger oyster sauce served with pickled chilli. 2) Grill kissed Beef Salad Oh wow this was fantastic. It was so perfect and healthy combination with beetroot, carrot, radish, mint, basil pickled mustard. A perfect Salad! 3) Beef San Khowsuey : The perfect meal The presentation was so good and the platter was designed to make us feel a special meal of the day! It’s a Burmese speciality of rice noodles Asian spiced broth served with grilled beef tenderloin kimchi, balachaung, pickled chilli. The taste was perfect and tummy filling. The cocktails were also unique and flavourful. They suggested us 1) Heimang Margarita Mixture of tequila, Chinensis berries which they get specially from the Manipur, lime triple sec. A fan of margarita would really go for this. It was superb! 2) Rangoon Ruby ‘Black rice ‘ wohoo, this ingredient makes it so perfect, followed by white rum, fresh ginger and lime. The cocktail to remember and cherish! Dessert Here it ends with a perfect strawberry dessert. Cream, fresh strawberries, merengue, made the blast of the perfect and flavourful sweetness. I loved the taste and it was so fresh and creamy! Must try! Apart from anything else the quantity was suffice and complete worth the price. If trying for the first time then ‘ THIS PLACE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR BURMESE FOOD’ anyways you would rarely find an authentic Burmese restaurant around goa and this was 10/10 perfect. Special thanks to @puja for making our Easter evening so special! All thanks to my partner @casmiro who accompanied me to have such a wonderful treat! Trupti and Bonita you girls are star of the show! We appreciate your service and three cheers to @zwe Highly recommended place!
A hidden gem in Calungute, came across this Burmese restaurant by chance and I am glad for it. Place is beautiful with positive vibes, staff is amazing and very courteous. I had ordered coconut rice and mango gravy with veggies. Soulful experience I must say. At the end they suggested strawberry pavlova, too yum. Would definitely visit again. I highly recommend this place for authentic Burmese food experience. I wish I had more time to visit this place again
It's not often that you come across a new restaurant that blows you away, right from the get-go! Zwe is a real hidden gem! An inconspicuous little restaurant that may look regular on the outside but OMG the food! I had an absolutely incredible experience and each dish was faultless! I'd highly recommend the Burmese Pomello Salad, Thayat Thee Thoke (raw mango salad), Chicken Khatsu, Coconut Rice and Mango curry! The flavours are explosive, the food is honest, the menu is small but well thought out, and you'll really be in for a treat when you dine here! I can't wait to go back!
A true hidden gem that is sure to blow your mind with its cozy ambience and heavenly food, ZWE by Golden Eye is a Burmese and Asian restaurant located in Calangute. The place is run by Bonita, Trupti and Yong Hkum (the head chef) whose passion for food is visible on every plate coming out of the kitchen. They took us through the menu, giving us an insight into Burmese cuisine. Kudos to the bartender for serving excellent cocktails. As most of the dishes are garnished with peanuts, do make sure to inform the staff about any allergies. We tried the following: Cocktails: Urrak Cocktail, Rangoon Ruby, Whiskey Sour, Kokum Margarita Starters: Burmese Red Tomato Thoke, Kachin Aubergine Mains: Fried Rice, Mango Curry with Coconut Rice Dessert: Black Sticky Rice with Black Jaggery With the urrak season setting in, trying an urrak cocktail was mandatory. This one was a concoction of pineapple juice, urrak, and some fresh mint leaves. Just what we needed on a sunny afternoon. The Rangoon Ruby was something different and really good. A blend of white rum and black rice, which gives it a deep colour. Since we focused on the vegetarian section of the menu, we opted for a Whiskey Sour without egg. A concoction of tequila, triple sec and kokum, the margarita was splendid. Whether you're a salad lover or not, you absolutely must try some from their menu. The one we had was a vegetarian version of Burmese Red Tomato Thoke with bombshell flavours. Literally! The fried garlic used as a garnish added the perfect crunch. Then we had the Kachin Aubergine, served with soy sesame dressing, fried garlic, and basil. Simple ingredients put together to pack a punch. Totally different from the Fried Rice we normally have, this one was served with a side of kimchi, balachung and picked chilli. It was very well cooked and loaded with vegetables. A must try! We are head over heels with their mind blowing mango curry. So delicious and flavourful. Pairing perfectly with the coconut rice, this was without a doubt the dish of the day! We ended our meal with the sticky black rice, a Thai dessert made using glutinous rice, jaggery and garnished with a sesame seed biscuit. It was delicious, healthy and not very sweet.
