Hollow Log Cafe - Caledonia

Great homely feel and good food. Friendly service and nice area for kids to play outside if you need to break a journey. Would really recommend if you are travelling to and from Keji. Good value, we would go again!

We stopped for breakfast on our way to Halifax and had the best food and service around! At the time we were the only couples in the place and were served immediately. My husband and brother asked for gravy which wasn't on the menu (southern folks who like biscuit and gravy) and they made it happen. Both were amazed and pleased. My sister in law is gluten free and they went out of their way to ensure everything she ordered met her standards. My pancakes were light and fluffy! We highly recommend. It also has a nice little playground and dog park next to it.

Although this was a pre-arranged morning coffee stop our tour manager was a little concerned how the Hollow Log would cope with 32 people arriving together. He need not have feared as we were all served very quickly with our drinks.Travellers need to be very hungry if they intend to partake of the very generous cooked breakfasts we saw others consuming.The homemade cakes and cookies etc looked very enticing.

Stopped in here for lunch. This place has all the hallmarks of a great roadside cafe but didn't really deliver. We had fish and chips, and chili. Both were good but nothing special. Service was slow and our young server was not particularly friendly or helpful.

I had the haddock chowder, fish N Chips and Lemon Pie. Yum. All were excellent in a homey setting. This is near Keji National Park.
