We began with the Spicy Miso soup, which resembled a ramen-style broth with a little kick. My son and I both have a high tolerance for spice, so I'm not sure how it would fare for someone who doesn’t. Nonetheless, I highly recommend it! Next, we had the Shrimp Tempura, which was among the best I’ve ever tasted. We even saved a couple of pieces until the end of the meal, and they remained just as crispy and intact when lifted by the tail as when first served. Definitely recommended! To finish off, we tried the Jupiter Rain Premium Oshi, which was a visual delight! Each piece was incredibly tasty and nearly melted in my mouth—highly recommended! We also enjoyed the green tea, which was offered with free refills and served hot. Overall, this was an incredible sushi experience—the whole meal was extraordinary! However, my only complaint is that after spending $59 for two people (including tip), we left feeling a bit hungry—not famished, but still wanting more. They had my favorite sushi, Unagi Nigiri (BBQ eel), but at nearly $5 per piece, my son and I could have easily devoured six. So, in summary, it’s a fantastic experience with top-quality sushi, though it comes at a price.
The meticulous attention to detail displayed in the sushi pieces is remarkable, making them almost too beautiful to eat. I felt a rush of excitement as our plate was presented, thanks to the stunning presentation. I highly recommend starting with the Madai Nigiri, featuring the delicately sweet red sea bream, which sets the perfect tone for the meal before diving into the special rolls. The roll options are extensive and include a variety of proteins such as wagyu, miso-braised pork, and mushrooms, alongside the typical fish options. Each dish we tried was incredibly delicious, including the Autumn Haze, Magic Mushroom, Iron Goddess, and Saba Blaze. However, the standout was undoubtedly the Magic Mushroom roll, which featured four different types of Japanese mushrooms drizzled with a rich truffle sauce, creating a stunning umami explosion—possibly one of the best vegan rolls I've ever tasted. To round off our delightful meal, we shared the sweet potato panna cotta, which was unique, not overly sweet, and perfectly portioned for sharing. The service was exceptional; the hostesses and servers were incredibly friendly. To our delight, our bill also came with a personalized, handwritten note featuring a clever pun and a charming drawing—a lovely touch that made our experience even more memorable. This delightful little restaurant is a must-visit for any sushi lover in Calgary. While online takeout is available and quite popular, I strongly recommend enjoying your meal in-house for the full experience!
This place is very small but extremely popular especially the online takeout. As of today, they are only open for dining Thursday thru Sunday. Book reservations in advance as it gets crowded quickly. I have had almost everything on the menu and it is all great. Everything is fresh and flavorful. When you leave the only thing on your mind is when you want to return.
This is a cute japanese restaurant with amazing customer service. The restaurant is quite small, maybe 16 tables.. The drink menu is folded into origami folded on the table. Menu has lots of colorful photos to assist in decision making.. The food comes out beautifully plated. The wasabi is fresh and it's all in the details.. the plate garnish was impeccable, like art! We ordered bluefin tuna sashimi and it was melt in your mouth! The rest of the sushi was very nice as well.. we had the ginger, rosemary creme bruleè and sweet potato pana cotta for dessert. They don't charge outrageous for the desserts either. I had a yuzu lemonade which was fresh and delicious! We were offered more tea even after we paid the bill, which is often overlooked at other restaurants. I am very pleased with this entire experience. Would both reccomend and return!
Always consistent and I enjoy the Oshi Sushi and the chicken nanban. The little extras like the always cute notes and flower for presentation show they really appreciate their customers.
