Buddha's Veggie Restaurant - Calgary

Good. We like to eat here once in a while...it specializes in vegetarian food but has meat items on the menu. It's sorta a junk food vegetarian though the food has lots of sugar, salt, and artificial colours/flavours added...so if you are looking for a healthy vegetarian place, this isn't the one for you. <br/ <br/ If you don't mind a bit of junk food once in a while, then this place is good. It has big portions and lots of options. My husband and I can usually share a main dish or we get two and have leftovers. We like the veggie ginger beef and veggie sweet and sour pork.

Oh.... My..... God....... This isn't meat??? Well I guess I'll have a second plate. Veggie spicy dry ribs : to die for....

I decided to eat here after a long debate of going here and to a few other restaurants. I got the veggie spring rolls, veggie ginger beef and brown rice. The portion size was huge and it was delicious, I could eat it all day. The issue I had was that you have to pay extra for rice. Most places I know and have been to give you a smaller portion size with rice. The other issue was the weird taste of the spring rolls. The filling was delicious, but the wrapper tasted like a dumpling wrapper, which was not appealing. The service was nothing spectacular, but nothing horrible. It was just average.

I went here this week with a friend after a busy event. She is a vegetarians so we thought we would try it. Generally I stick to "veggie" vegetarian meals but the Ginger Beef is their specialty and the Kung Pao Chicken was recommended.Both had very good flavour, a bit of spice but not overwhelming (ginger beef was VERY sweet).The meal was great and the server was very friendly. I would eat here again, next time would see what their vegetable based (vs. fake meat) dishes were like. A great place for a veggie/carnivore combination. They do also serve meat dishes here.

Anytime we're in Calgary we come here for a meal. Everything is flavourful and it is so nice to have so many vegan options. A must go to place for a wonderful vegan treat.
