Chili Island Chinese & Thai - Calgary

Average at best. The good ginger beef, Shanghai noodles, rice. The bad dumplings all dough, salt and pepper shrimp, squid, scallops not really editable no salt and pepper flavour and too much batter. Average lemon chicken. Overall unsatisfying

Recently ordered takeout from sister restaurant in Walden (Chili Garden) which unfortunately closed and I was transferred back to Chili Garden. We used to go there quite frequently but got tired of being ignored by the wait staff so we quit going. Ordered dishes...and they screwed up three of them. Ordered our usual Tom Ghar soup and when we started eating it discovered it had no lemon grass for flavor. I called back to the restaurant and at first they apologized and said I would get a replacement next time. The minutes later they called me and said the lemon grass was sometimes not put in the soup so no freebie next time. I have ordered this soup over times so I know what I am talking about. We also ordered shrimp with two kinds of mushroom. We got shrimp with one kind of mushroom (looked like a can of no name mushrooms from Walmart) and a very watery sauce. Ordered swimming rama chicken (another long time favorite) and again, a very watery and weak sauce, not much taste. They either should have said, sorry, we can't make that dish or just closed. Food is not cheap and no one needs to get ripped off. Here's a tip. If you crave this type of food, take the extra time and drive to the original, Spicy Hut on the bottom of Edmonton Trail, their food is always great

The portions were huge. Portions served in a pie plate. I brought more food home with me than I ate. I had Thai noodles with chicken, pork and shrimp. The service was just ok, but we were the only table in the restaurant

We ordered dinner for two on the thai side, It was absolutely awefull, the rice was bland, the beef with black pepper and mushroom was watery with way more mushrooms than beef, the sweet and sour pork was mushy , and the chicken with yellow...curry was horrible!!! yuk!!! not to mention small styrofoam containers and steer clear of this place

Time here and service quality is still exceptional. Had Thai curry chicken lunch special. Fresh with excellent flavors. Highly recommended for quality, selection and value
