Jinya Ramen Bar - Calgary

Try to get here early or make a reservation because this place gets busy! They do have an online waitlist so you can add yourself to it while you drive over, otherwise expect to wait at least 30 minutes! I’ve tried JINYA in Vancouver and couldn’t stop thinking about it so I was so happy they also have one in Calgary. This ramen is UNMATCHED. I had the Tonkotsu Original and the pork was full of flavour and just so amazing. I will dream about this ramen every night.

Having lived in Japan for a decade, it’s difficult to walk in to a ramen spot in any other country with a complete non-biased view. That said, this place stood up quite well compared to a lot of the others I’ve been to in Canada.They have a great menu selection of different types of broths, noodle styles, etc.I got the red tonkotsu and my dining partner got the original tonkotsu. Generally speaking, it was pretty solid. The broth doesn’t quite get there with the desired thickness you want to see in a tonkotsu but it is definitely still very good.We grabbed a side of gyoxa which were nothing special but like the ramen, still good.I think they could easily expand their drink menu a bit to simulate the authentic ramen shop experience. For example, the infamous “highball” (whiskey and soda) is not available. My partner wanted a whiskey and ginger ale which she had to order separately and mix herself at the table.It’s a cool and stimulating decor, paired with the open kitchen which makes for a fun atmosphere. We were there around 8pm on a Saturday night and the place was definitely packed out. They have an efficient waiting list system wherein you scan a QR code and are texted when a table is ready for you. We only waited about 15 minutes.I’ll definitely come back again and recommend this place to anyone who wants a solid bowl of ramen.

Enjoy my visit in JINYA ramen bar! The servers were so nice and patient even tho we came in at the last minute (9:45 last call). I like the black ramen the most, the garlic oil makes their soup a rich taste. The sauce under the takoyaki is special too, never had it at other place. Definitely will come back next time.?

Friendly staff, very good food! I took the red ramen with spice level 5, it was an amazing experience. Next time I want to try level 7. Definitely recommend this ramen place.

The Ramen is the best I've had in a long time, the broth is so packed full of flavor and the side dishes really just make a wonderful meal overall. Walked away full and excited for our next visit.Would definitely recommend the Tonkotsu Original 2010!
