We walked into this quaint looking cafe and the smell of shisha - set a decent tone. After a quick scan of the menu, we decided to give this place a shot, considering the other shawarma place was closed. The food was not outstandingly good nor outstandingly bad, but to justify $14 for a shawarma in a plate with about 17 fries, a very restrained portion of dip and the anemic looking wrap was a little bit of a stretch. It surely does not help when the server says that water is charged and no tap (try $6.99 and it would be fair) water is served - I don't know many customers who like hearing that or being told no :(. The kitchen could have used a smaller plate to atleast disguise the massive emptiness of the plate.Unfortunately, I did not taste the outstanding freshness promised on the many reviews here and would rather spend an extra $3/4 to eat something else in the downtown core than sit through being charged for water by a very reluctant to serve staff. Not impressed and wouldn't visit again.
Contrary to what other reviews said this place is spotless. The name has changed to kayf cafe. Aladin served me and made the delecious meal.
Poor service. Place is not clean. Extremely expensive : $14 for a donair and a plate half empty. Totally disappointing.
Visited this restaurant (now known as KAYF Cafe) on the weekend, which was open at 3 am when all other restaurants nearby were closed. Although the visit started off well with quick service and a pleasant atmosphere, it didn't last long. As it turns out, they don't like when you ask for a glass of water. After casually asking our server twice for a glass of water, as it costs upwards of 2 cents a gallon, we had a manager confront our table, accuse me of insulting our server, and called me something I can't repeat on TripAdvisor. The manager then proceeded to ignore our table for a lengthy amount of time, until I spoke with the owner. Though the owner offered a halfhearted apology, the manager refused to speak to us in a civil manner and offered no resolution. I have never seen less tact demonstrated by an employee in the hospitality industry, let alone a manager. The food was alright, and at 3 am it's your only option in this area if you're hungry, but boy don't ask for a glass of water...
