The staff was friendly and efficient, and the restaurant was very clean with well-maintained decor. One of us ordered the soup and sandwich of the day, which was tasty and came with a generous portion of meat in the beef dip. The other had a hamburger with a large patty, fresh toppings, and a side of fries and salad. The fries were perfectly cooked and the portion size was enough for a satisfying meal. Overall, the meals were priced at around $15, which we found to be a decent value for the quality of food and service.
I have had the basic breakfast of bacon and eggs two times at this restaurant and both times they messed it up. The egg yolks were hard when I asked for them to be basted medium, there was a thick layer of margarine on top, and the service was slow for everything from coffee to ketchup to getting my food order correct on the bill. On my next visit, another waitress had to return to my table after 10 minutes to double check my bacon and egg order, and it took a while for it to be delivered correctly. The Filipino staff seemed to be on the ball, but the rest of the team lacked experience. The loud 80's music blaring from the ceiling speakers made it hard to think clearly. The location and seating were nice, but the manager should hire more competent servers and improve the kitchen operations. It's not that difficult to get a basic breakfast right.
Smitty's was a disappointing experience overall. The service was slow and the server seemed unfamiliar with the menu. Both my table and the one next to us had complaints. My burger was dry and overcooked, even with mayo it was still disappointing. I have eaten at Smitty's many times before and this meal did not meet the usual standard. We also had to wait for our bills and found the sliding lock on the bathroom door to be strange. Overall, I would not recommend this place.
I was there with my sister for lunch. I had her Philly Steak sandwich and wish I had gone with my first intuition... some kind of breakfast. The Bratbeef in my sandwich was stale and pretty hard. My sister had the grilled cheese and it was enough, but not better than what you could do for yourself. They offer some pages with your order and our server was very good.
As one of the few food options in The mall I've eaten here a few times. It's basic diner food, like a lower quality version of Denny's. The food is not amazing but it is edible and I've never had any major problems with it. Price is reasonable and you get a fair bit of food for a low cost. The service in this particular restaurant does leave a lot to be desired and I've found that quite often there are long delays for service and food even though the restaurant isn't busy. Overall it's not a place I would rush to but as the only restaurant available in the area I would return without to many worries.
