This place is so great. it is staff/owners are friendly and great. eating is made with love, and tastes so great. the place is a newer place for a Calgary classic.
Looking for a decent Pho place here in calgary and song huong popped up, arrived at 1ish on a Sunday, was busy and 90% filled. we have our table after 5 minutes, ordered jump roll as our first curs, and then pho for pornstar, we...had the house special and the seafood clear noodle. I must say beef pho is much better, then my seafood clear noodle, as I remember, other Pho shops also have this, but the nudes are much more translucent and had a bouncier texture. that is very like a regular pho. but what I am not too satisfied with their version is that there are practically no real seafood except the 4 garnen, and the rest is the fake crab meat. the broth has much too much msg, too bad I ordered this instead of the bark pho or bbh, as I usually go for bbh. the jump roll is very well made and it uses rice paper for the packaging instead of egg roll wrappers, this shows its authenticity, the diving sauce is also well balanced and made the plate excellent! I don't know if I'm back, but I'm still very curious about her bbh!
Song Huong has a huge loyal following. When it closed for over 3 months to rennovate the current location, its Facebook and Instagram exploded with constant inquiries from its huge fan club. The food is consistently prepared and served well. It's fast, friendly service with...a smile. It always hits the spot.
Friends suggested us to come here as this restaurant offers more authentic Vietnamese food rather than Canadian Vietnamese food. Bún bò Huế is one of the items. Fairly big portion, soup wasn't too strong or salty. Spring rolls were made with rice paper which is...the authentic way of Vietnamese spring rolls. 99% of the Vietnamese restaurants in town are so lazy to do it this way (they use Chinese spring roll wrap) due to lots of labour involved and time consuming. The spring rolls come with large or small. If you don't mention you want a small size, they will give you large one. Be careful! However, the restaurant still needs to improve their deep fried skill. The spring rolls were a bit over-cooked, not golden brown. Vermicelli was huge too, with lots of meat and vegetables. Lunch comes with salad as well, surprising. It's a hidden restaurant in NE. If no one told us, we never realised that. Restaurant is new and clean. Worth to give that a try if you are around the area. We would go again to try other food items.
