Jardim Atlantico - CALHETA

The staff were very helpful and friendly and initially I was impressed to see a range of vegetarian options. However the food was very disappointing. I first asked about the vegetables au gratin but when I probed, the waiter admitted that this dish was cooked in the microwave, I changed my mind and ordered the asparagus risotto. This turned out to be just dry rice and overcooked asparagus, nothing whatsoever to do with risotto. one of the other dishes was a different type of risotto and I imagine this would have been similar. I am unable to recommend based on this experience. And very disappointing that a 4 star hotel would offer microwaved dishes.

My family and I have recently got back from our holiday in Madeira and we were fortunate enough to stay in Hotel Jardim Atlantico. Our stay was very pleasant. Upon arrival, we were greeted by very welcoming staff members. Our rooms had amazing views that overlooked the ocean and beautiful mountains. We were also able to watch the sunset from our balconies. The food at the restaurant was lovely. It was so nice to try a different cuisine from our own. The staff members were amazing. The reason for our trip was to take my mother on a 50th Birthday surprise. Beforehand, we had requested a birthday cake to be brought out at dinner in the restaurant. This was arranged with Tony via email/phone. We described exactly what we wanted and they delivered. In fact, the cake they gave us was beyond our expectations and it truly made the birthday special. (Thank you Tony and the rest of the catering team and staff members for organising that). They also gave us lots of recommendations on things to do around the island. We ended up renting a car and driving around ourselves however, they had a free shuttle service on Mondays and Fridays for anyone that wanted to go into town. The pool was lovely and I enjoyed sitting on the deck chairs whilst reading my book in the sun. Overall our stay was amazing. The only negative thing I would raise is that there is no wifi in the rooms. If you want to access it, you must go downstairs to the reception lobby, the restaurant, or their cosy library. Also, there is no iron in the room, so when packing just be wary that you may need to pack a steamer. Thank you Jardim Atlantico for the amazing stay.

We stayed here 4 to 11 March 2020, the staff were great couldn't do enough to help. Food fab, facilities good, 2 pools one in one outdoors, pool table, table tennis. Evening entertainment. free mini bus service to start of Lavadas plus a couple of other near by destination. will definitely return.

La descente sur Jardin do mar est très éprouvante pour les genoux mais le cadre est magnifique
