Railway - CALLIOPE

We stopped for dinner on a road trip, and came across this pub. We called ahead and they offered to stay a little later if we didn't get there before the kitchen closed. So kind of them. We arrived, staff were friendly, food was fast and really good! I wasn't fond of the salad but that's just my personal taste. Toilets were really new, modern and CLEAN! This pub is great for travellers north, South, east and west. Great food and staff and all the usual bar stuff on tap, friendly family atmosphere in a lovely clean little country town. Service: 5 Location: 5

The rooms are modern clean, comfortable and quiet, good value. The food and service in the pub was terrific. Would recommend.

Asked for 12 oysters. Found when the food come out They provided 6, mentioned it when they delivered and then I seen they charged for 6 asked to pay the difference they said no I can pay again, which Is double. Unnecessary poor service like they got so upset argued the point.. it Was 8pm. But ofcourse there is no one else here and they want to just go home…, no wonder no one’s here because it is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE. Also No masks for the mandate for these rude staff. Not one person, they’re above the law apparently only us average people deserve to wear them. When she was so rude I mentioned it she said she was exempt but 5 minutes later she puts one on. Sure thing.

Great Pub and Motel. We stayed the night in the Motel after a long drive from FNQ. A very clean and well appointed modern room. Great meal at the pub that night, great food and great service. Good old country pubs. Ask for the lamb chops and you will struggle to finish... Wifey couldn't finish her Parmi. Really good meals!, washed down with a few frothy tops and a wine. Gotta Love a good Country Pub, a very welcoming place.
