On the segment, their food looked really good so I was eager to see the hype. I got brisket with a side of coleslaw. To me, the brisket needed some seasoning and I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce that it came with. In addition to the sauce on the side, I had them add spicy sauce on top of the brisket, but I didn't find that spicy at all. No heat, no pepper, no nothing and the coleslaw was not the best I had. It was palatable, but I could have opted for another side. I thought they had good service, and the employees were friendly. I personally wouldn't go back.
I lived in Texas for over 20 years and am well accustomed to Texas bbq, so I knew I had to give 2fifty’s a try. While this isn’t on the level of places like Snows, Terry Black’s, Franklin, or Pecan Lodge, it’s still the best Texas bbq I’ve had in the DMV. The brisket was tender, had the right amount of pull, was well seasoned, and not too fatty. The sausage was good as well, a little less flavor than expected, but honestly tasted along the same lines as what you would get from a place like Kreuz. Make no mistake, this isn’t going to taste like bbq local to the east coast, so if that’s what you’re used to I recommend coming in with an open mind, remembering that across the country bbq styles widely vary, and that even the best bbq joints don’t always have consistent quality (i.e. don’t write it off based on one bad experience).
Holy Mother of God. This brisket leaves Franklin 's in the dust. And I used to live in Austin.
Located in union market I saw brisket and I wanted to try it. I am a brisket lover. Small spot that has a new different options to get a taste of BBQ. The lady that took my order was very helpful and nice, service was really fast. I went the brisket sandwich that came on a poppy seed bun, side of pickles, coleslaw and bbq sauce. I got a side of mac n cheese and a drink. I am more of a lean brisket girl and the brisket was really fatty. The flavor was good and once I put the sandwich together it was decent. The Mac n cheese was way over cooked. The noodles were super mushy. If I wanted BBQ this wouldn't be my first choice.
This is so good. I ordered the brisket sandwich. It was $22 but came with so much meat I wasn't even mad. They serve it with pickles and slaw on the side and a small bbq sauce. The sandwich is on a poppy seed bun. It was honestly the best brisket I've ever had (and I order brisket everywhere . I watched them build it and noticed they combined the sandwich meat with cuts from the thicker and smaller portions of the brisket when slicing so the dryer parts were mixed with the really moist parts. Brilliant. The bbq sauce was heavily seasoned and more on the savory side. I especially think you'd enjoy this brisket if you are a fan of pepper (and even if you aren't like me. due to the rub on it. I'll absolutely be back!
