I’m so impressed! This is a little hole in the wall, locally owned place, obscured by the endless construction on Rhode Island Avenue. Don’t forget about them, please. It’s authentic Peruvian food, great chicken and sides, for a super low price. The pictured plates here cost $12 total (it’s one meal, split with my husband, so six bucks each). That’s just a great deal these days. Also the restaurant is nice enough that I would eat there rather than carry out sometimes. It feels homey. We’re lucky to have this place in the neighborhood.Easy comparison — this is very like Chicken Whiskey on 14th, but a bit cheaper.
Incredible flavor and value!! You get an ENTIRE chicken with three sides and six sauces for $25. Tell me where else that's possible in DC? Also, everything is absolutely delicious. I recommend the Arroz Chaufa as a side. It's like a Peruvian version of Chinese fried rice, and it's bomb. Honestly, it's all SO good. You can't go wrong. Just order already!
Came here with a coworker and had 1/4 dark chicken with fried rice and fried plantains. My coworker had the Lomo Saltado and it's really good! This place is a nice hole in the wall, service is satisfactory and they make their food pretty fast! Don't let the looks of the place fool you out of good food from Huatacay Restaurant! By the way, they make the fried rice really well here. It's as if there's no grease in it, unlike generic Chinese American restaurants like Panda Express where you smell and taste the grease in their fried rice ? Parking: Parking isn't the best here, just parallel park along the street next to the restaurant. P.s. the restaurant is located in front of a one-way road so keep that in mind
Hole in the wall place with no frills, but amazing food!! We had the lomo saltado and ceviche. They were very generous w the meat/fish portions, well worth the price of each dish.
