The Coupe - Calumet-Norvelt

This place is lackluster and I 'm genuinely baffled that it has such good reviews. The coffee is incredibly average for the price they charge and the food is so bland and unremarkable I almost forgot what I ate when I went there. This place definitely falls into the category of extremely average food establishments that are only popular because of their 'aesthetic ' which are unfortunately all too common in DC. Recommend avoiding this place

Good food, good people but it can be ICE cold in there sometimes. Seems like a small thing but it can ruin a romantic date....

Super disappointed by this place and marveling at all of the positive reviews. Before I give details: In short the food was terrible and service didn’t redeem it. Our server disappeared halfway through the service and seemed confused about very basic menu items. That would have been fine if the food was even okay, but it was gross. Flat dry pancakes syrup and butter couldn’t even redeem, fish and chips had zero seasoning, the omelette was swimming in grease and also not seasoned, the chicken and waffles had no flavor except too much salt. It was a disappointing experience across the board. What’s more is as a server if you come to the table and see plates full of food and no request for boxes, one would think to ask if everything was okay. They did not.

This recommendation from Odd Provisions did not disappoint. It was a beautiful day, friendly staff and great food. The Fried Green Tomatoes were perfect......nice crisp crust and a thick, firm slice. I didn 't even miss the sauce, the topping was light and fresh. The Shrimp Grits were very good, just enough spice against those creamy, cheesy grits. The Veggie burger was a big hit and very filling. My mom said finally a burger that wasn 't all starch or just straight 'shrooms , lol, and very filling. Looking towards the next visit.

When visiting family in DC, I like to eat here! The food is ALWAYS fantastic!
