Even prior to COVID-19, he always wore gloves and took great care not to cross contaminate. The food doesn't come as quickly as you might expect, but that it simply because he takes his time. They have breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, and some diner-style options (spaghetti, lasagna, etc. . There are also snacks and bottled drinks. Everything is delicious and well-priced! Check this out next time you are near :
We enjoy this deli! The owner is meticulous, methodical, and efficient. If you are looking for gourmet, this isn 't the place for you. However, if you are looking for freshly prepared salads and diner-style food at a very reasonable price, you should give it a try. It isn 't shiny in any way, and they only accept cash. It is very clean, and the menu is extensive. I enjoy the freshly prepared tuna salad, and I order my fries extra-crispy. I have noticed many people enjoying their breakfast sandwiches. You can sit-in or carry out. It has been with the same owner for the last three years, and it was under different management for 20 years before that. There seems to be a steady stream of business: customers working inside of the building, local construction teams, clients of the building, and others wandering in. Support a local business, and give it a go!
The Works Cafe is a blast from the past. These places used to be all over DC. The first time I found it was in 2017, because of a 'tent ' sign in the lobby touting sandwich specials for cheap in the back . The owner was a Korean guy with a Latina cook. They sold out 2 years ago to another Korean guy who does it all by himself. The food is cheap and good, especially after I 'd been Fasting for a blood test from my physical upstairs!!! It 's clean and there 's great coffee on the counter and TV running all the time. A breakfast Croissant w/ham, egg, and Cheese is $4.00!! Almost too much to eat at one time. Oh, and yes, there 's several kinds of HOT SAUCES on the counter to brighten up your purchase! What a find. I 'm down there on 1/22 so hope it 's still there. The building has just been refreshed, and the owner told me he was 'staying put '. We 'll see. Check it out !!! JP
My home fries were VERY hard Like they were cooked on Monday reheated several times... When I let the owner know he was very very rude. Never going back.
