The Sea Tree - Cambridge

There were a party of five of us, my sister, three friends of ours and myself, and we all arrived at the restaurant within five minutes of each other, so when we all did arrive, we went into the restaurant and were all seated at our table by a very helpful young waitress, who went on to take and deliver our order of drinks, she was replaced by another person, a young man who took our meal orders which were delivered to us promptly, which were, salmon and a small salad, trout with new potatoes, which was a special meal for that day at the restaurant, a skinless haddock and thick chips, and two large portions of cod, one l with thick chips, and the other, with thick chips and mushy peas, and for dessert, one of the party brought a home made cake to share between us with vanilla ice cream which we ordered, which was very good. Overall, the drinks, meals, ice-cream part of the dessert, and the service were all very good, and what was even better, was the fact that while we all were there, we were the only customers eating in, at the time, and I highly recommend this restaurant.

On the evening 3 Aug I ordered a meal for my family from the Sea Tree to the value of £32. We have enjoyed take away meals from this restaurant numerous times and have always received good quality food. Unfortunately our order arrived and it was overcooked with the batter very brown and dripping in oil. The mushy peas were soup like liquid. I phoned the restaurant straight away and spoke with the manger who also happened to be the cook and asked them to come and collect the meal and refund me. He was very polite and apologised. There was no offer to replace the meal however he said he would ensure I was fully refunded. The meal went in the bin and I am still waiting for my refund. I have emailed numerous times and completely ignored. My recommendation is to look else where for your fish chips. We will be from now on.

It's a really nice little place for seafood fish quite a nice touch to watch them cooking in front of you it's very back to basics and that gives it quite a nice feel and makes it quite special

The best ever Fish Chips we have had in England. Such big portions and all freshly cook. The staff are very pleasant. A fantastic place (Plaice) to eat. Thanks

I visited here on Saturday 19th of February and was absolutely amazed. My husband and I were in Cambridge for a trip away and were told to try the sea tree. The food was amazing! I had the seafood risotto which was to die for. My husband had cod and chips which was also spot on. The portion sizes were more than enough which was lovely to see that you get your money’s worth! We had a beautiful bottle of white wine served with our main. The environment was made super welcoming and friendly by the chatty and smiley waitress who couldn’t do enough for us. Even though the place was full it didn’t seem hectic or chaotic. All the tables looked to be having a lovely time. Overall the food was incredible, the service was enthusiastic, positive and welcoming and the atmosphere of the place was lovely to see. We couldn’t stop talking about what a lovely place we had found. Will definitely be returning and recommending to lots of people!
