Contribuisci feedbackI haven't written a review until now because we made a reservation through OpenTable, which was confirmed, but when we arrived at McCabe's, it was closed. This was disappointing, as we usually enjoy McCabe's and would have likely had a great experience this time as well had it been open. Unfortunately, this situation reflects poorly on the use of OpenTable.
McCabe is a dependable spot in our neighborhood. The food has consistently been good every time we've visited for brunch. While the menu is small, everything we've tried has been enjoyable. The ambiance has shifted from more of a cafe vibe to a pub atmosphere, which is closer to its original feel. Though the setting is more defined now, the food remains excellent. They mentioned they stopped using OpenTable, yet the system still seems to be in place. Reservations are honored, and the staff is friendly, making for a consistently positive experience.
I was extremely pleased with the service! There was already water on the table for us when we arrived. The food definitely deserved a 5-star rating, but the eggs on my Eggs Benedict were completely overcooked (what's an Eggs Benedict without a perfectly runny egg?!).
To get the addition of tacos to the regular menu. very tasty taste combinations and hearty portions. cheddar with fish? I was stupid, but it's a great taco.
Meh, First off, the coffee was awful. It was so weak you could almost taste the cut itself. I made a reservation and arrived a couple of minutes early. The place was empty. He attempted to sit in the WORST spot in the place. right behind the front service station smack in front of the front door. I begged for a different spot. He finally seated us in the way back right next to the back junk table where they keep all the supplies. They then proceeded to seat a big table of people right next to us. They were very loud and we could not really talk. The rest of the place was pretty empty. I first ordered a decaf Iced coffee. It came with mike already added. Really it was a glass of ,milk with a tiny bit of coffee. I can 't handle that much milk, and the AC had switched on, so I was freezing. I asked for a hot cup of decaf. It was lukewarm and I had a hard time getting the 1/2&1/2 to add myself. sigh. I ordered the Duck hash, which my friend said was really good. It was OK, the duck was stringy, the potatoes were ok, I don 't think there was much or any rosemary on them. Both of us wanted eggs over medium fully cooked whites with tender yolks. The waiter seemed to convey that they did not do that level of specificity, so we both agreed to over hard. My companions eggs were reasonably over hard Mine were done to the point of crossing over into an actual plastic polymer. I literally needed a knife to saw through them. Our waiter disappeared for a long time after delivering our food. We had to get up to ask for salt and pepper from the bar tender. The toast was really good!
