Trophy Room At Old Kinderhook

Beautiful view of the golf course from the dining room. Food was very good. Our first time there since bringing a new chef aboard We’ll go back again on another trip to the lake.

Not sure what was going on in the kitchen but we were told that they were out of bread so we wouldn’t be getting that which was fine for us. But we ordered the Calamari appetizer and she brought it out with our meal. So we didn’t eat it for fear our dinner would get cold. Food was very good. It just took a little while to get which we are fine to take our time while we are out at a nice dinner if we have a cocktail or two. But…getting drinks seemed to be a bit challenging. The bar was out of several different liquors, which we found surprising as it was a Friday night. Then it took about minutes to get our drinks and then had to wait about the same amount of time to get someone back over to take another drink order and another minutes to get them. But the food was good so you have the time for a long dinner you’re good.

The atmosphere and views were amazing. The prime rib special was very good. The steak was very disappointing and not worth the hefty price tag. The halibut was ok but has very little flavor. We will eat there again because of the location, views and atmosphere, however we will choose from lower priced items like sandwiches, burgers and pasta that is hard to mess up. We would recommend to a friend but only for drinks, appetizers and sandwiches…certainly not for fine dining.

They were i understaffed, poorly trained, and management was unwilling to provide assistance to the wait staff Our salad was delivered after our entree (only after we let the server know that we had never received it. Our water glasses were never refilled, and we weren’t offered dessert before the server brought our check. In addition, our server had no idea what Sauvignon Blanc was, when we ordered a bottle of wine For a fine dining establishment, the service we received was very substandard and very disappointing However, the chef did a good job the food was very high quality.

This was our first time dining at old kinderhook, we were looking to try somewhere different. The restaurant and view are beautiful. Our server gave us fantastic service. I started off with the blue cheese wedge salad, and my husband got the vegetable beef soup. Both were great. For dinner, my husband got the ribeye, which was cooked perfectly and very good. I got the sea scallops, and they were truly amazing. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, and were some of the largest I’ve ever had. We finished off with the brownie and ice cream desert. Pricey, but worth the money. We will definitely be back!
