Capers - Campbellford

Went over the civic long weekend and the food was just delicious. I had the turkey, apple, Brie sandwich and my friend had the Mac and cheese. Oh my.. both were delicious and the Caesar dressing on the salad (love the garlic!) oh my it was the best. I will definitely be back. Only hesitation from a perfect score is because it wasn't really busy (4 tables) outside and a few inside but the service was very slow. The waitress was running around, clearly too busy to properly serve each table. Wasn't her fault though and you could tell she was trying her hardest.

When we arrived there were a lot of patrons finishing up their meals, perfect timing for us. The inside dining is limited and because of the rain we didn't chance sitting on the large patio. We were greeted by the staff and seated quickly and drink orders taken and ordered the pulled pork sandwich, smoked meat sandwich and the Oven Roasted Turkey, bacon pear sandwich and from the special of the day a bbq beef dip sandwich all with fries. Service was a bit slow but the food was amazing and I would go back just for the an order of fries they were the best I have ever tasted

We stayed locally in a B & B and were recommended to eat here. Dinner happens from 5 pm to 8 pm which is good for us. We waited several minutes to be shown to a table. Drink orders were taken quickly and nothing happened. A waiter asked us if we were ready to order, but disappeared when we said we had placed drink orders. Our waitress eventually reappeared and took a food order, after which it took 55 minutes for food to appear, by which time my wife was feeling faint. We have learned since that the management of the restaurant changed 3 weeks ago.

It's an easy walk to Capers from the town dock. The converted house was a buzz with the wait staff rushing to serve, unfortunately it was not enough, service is hit or miss. The food.. Starters: Coconut shrimp with chipotle sauce was standard. Tasty enough, the Presentation... . Meh! Lamb curry.. Yummy with safron rice. The other diner had Carribean chicken which was a complete hit. Al in all... Good food. Service.was.. Meh.

The food was excellent. Our service was terrible. Had to ask for our beverage. The dinner specials were recited with no added explanation of what came with them. I would have ordered the chicken if I knew it came with watermelon feta salad. My salmon was tasty, husbands prime rib tender. However we never saw our server again until we finished. She showed up, offered us our bill. Didn't ask if we would like a second beverage, coffee or dessert. When I mentioned this she didn't seem too concerned. It wasn't like there was a line waiting for our table If you want decent food but mediocre service then Capers is the place to go. Disappointed.
