Chelsea's Fish & Chips - Campbellton

Very traditional French cuisine in a warm restaurant near the center of old Rouen.

We stopped here today during a visit to the area because of the high rating on Trip Advisor. My husband and I both ordered the fish and chips since the sell fresh cod we felt it would be good. The fish was dry and overlooked to the point of being almost yellow and dry around the edges. The batter was hard and greasy and dropped grease to the bottom of the tray it was served in. The chips was greasy as if precooked and received when ordered. The fish was like something that had been battered and partially fried and then refried when ordered. It didn't taste fresh and was completely dried out and not translucent as fresh cod should be when cooked properly. They have a fresh lobster pound as well as fresh mussels, cod and salmon. We were ver disappointed and would not go back for the fish and chips.

This Restaurant was recommended to us from our Bed and Breakfast host. I was very surprised to see a chip wagon on site. As it turned out the Main building had the fresh Lobsters, mussels and Crab. The Chip wagon had all the fried foods. We order one Lobster to split, and then a Seafood platter from the Chip Truck. I was pleasantly surprised, it was all great. And plenty for us both.

This seaside outlet sells fresh seafoods as well as cooks them for you to eat-in or take away. We had one incredible dinner here in early June enjoying piping hot and freshly prepared mussels and lobsters! The mussels tasted like candy...they were THAT delicious. Carla, the hostess and food preparer, was informative and attentive to our culinary needs! Subsequently we passed on our recommendations to other travellers we met on our way around Newfoundland. Not to be missed...you can't, there's a huge red lobster on the front lawn on Highway 340 not far from Lewisporte. The price was irresistible as well.
