CBD Dumpling House - Canberra

As a Chinese gourmet, by DNA and by practice, I vouch that the food here is as good as you get in a dessèchent restaurant in northern China. I went five times in three weeks when I visited Canberra last month. Their chilli and sour soup is the best I have had since last trio to Beijing. I didn't try the usual stir fry dishes offered by most australian Chinese restaurants. I only go for the dumplings and the duck dishes.

Old favourite for eat in and takeaway options. Dumplings are always steaming hot and freshly made. Noodle and rice dishes never fail to disappoint, either. Service could be improved but the introduction of their iPad ordering system has certainly made things more accurate and efficient.

The Dumpling House is easily Civic's best Chinese food. An amazing menu with the freshest ingredients and the best flavours. This is a busy restaurant which is always busy - and it's obvious why. Book your table and settle in for a quick but delicious meal: try the salt and pepper tofu; outstanding!

I walked in the restaurant today and tried to get and table . It is very busy and full house . Try to ask the staff for how and where to queue up .... But the staff keep on ask you to wait outside with an impatient attitude. There are over 15 people standing at the entrance and you do not know where to queue and who is the first one ! I believe if the restaurant make a better arrangement for waiting guests . I believe the way of staff speaking and attitudes can improve , we can feel better . This is a fantastic place if you're keen on dumplings and traditional Chinese food. Service was good but a little under staff for the amount of clientele dime in and take out a few more table staff would not go astray. The food was the highlight of the experience and so it should be my meal was Singapore dumping and pan fried lamb✅✅✅. Well worth a meal but please book if you want a table to save being disappointed .
