The portions are always generous and the vegetables and meat taste fresh. The restaurant has an open layout with clean windows, making for a pleasant dining experience. The staff are all very friendly and go out of their way to bring amazing dumplings to everyone in the area. I will definitely be returning with my family and recommending this place to all my friends in Canberra.
We had the pan fried pork dumplings and chive pancakes and loved them! Although the prices are a bit higher than several years ago, the taste was authentic Chinese and they were all freshly made, so worth it. Would definitely order from here again!
The restaurant provides a pleasant atmosphere for dinner. The food was served promptly, with the salted hot fried tofu being particularly delicious. The dumpling filling was flavorful, although the boiled dumplings were slightly chewy due to the thickness of the dough. The steamed BBQ pork buns were tasty, but lacked the fluffy bun and dark sticky sauce typical of yumcha. The Pineapple drink was unique with its fizzy texture and pineapple pieces, but it reminded me of overripe pineapple. Overall, the drink was fine, but it was difficult to shake off the association with spoiled fruit.
I have been going to this dumpling restaurant in Canberra for the past ten years. This time, I ordered delicious fried handmade noodles and xiao long bao, along with both boiled and pan-fried dumplings. The restaurant tends to get crowded, so it's probably a good idea to make a reservation.
With the undressed facade to the basic arrangement of chairs and tables in the inner would be the first impression of the thickson dumpling house ddh.
