The locally brewed beer was a bit of a disappointment. Also disappointing were some of the others in the pub who did not have consideration for others. Hopefully they are not regulars, but they did negatively impact my night.
I only went for one reason: the Irish music session. And that, sorry to say, was, well... let's say I've heard better. Could have been an off night, of course. The beer was - as beer always is in Australia - expensive. The bar was standard Fake Irish Pub. Didn't try the food. Looked good. The plus of this place is that it's on the main walking mall right downtown, so parking is easy, finding other places is easy, and the big shopping center with everything, is easy. If you're passing by, go in for a beer and decent décor and atmosphere. If you aren't, don't make a trip of it.
This is probably the only pub, that doesn't live in a hotel, in the Canberra CBD. It's not really a restaurant although it does serve food. It has a great range of beers and a fantastic range of Irish whiskeys and scotches. It's ok for a quick beer.
Their steaks are delicious. Best environment, Paintings were great with a bit of Canberra's history. Hospitality was top notch. Will go again.
Thought I would get the usual tourist pint of Guinness found around Australia but was pleasantly surprised to get a long poured stout with the correct waiting time and not too cold that you can't taste it.
