Shogun Japanese Restaurant - Canberra

Six of us for my partners birthday dinner. Traditional table was very cosy for six but made for easy access to the hot pots in the centre of the table. Food was tasty.

We ordered set meals from the menu including yakitori as additional entrés. We were quite disappointed with the yakitori. Did not taste like yakitori. Then the main meals arrived, rice and pickles with the meat dishes. They were ok but not the yummy food we had in Tokyo and Kyoto years before. Maybe our expectations were too high, but I know the family will not return here for Japanese food. I think it has been modified to suit the non-Asian clientele. ;-(

The food was ok tasting but definitely lacked on amount. After getting my main order wrong had to wait a very long time while other people in our small group had their food a good 20 minutes before. Very poor service and for the quality of food was over priced.

Food was average and over-priced. Waitress was unfriendly and at times unresponsive. A poor dinning experience!

I don't know what some of these other reviewers were on, but last night the Spring Rolls, California Rolls, Kushi Katsu, Chicken Teriyaki & Battered Banana were stunning. Complemented with warm Saki.
