If you are looking for the culinary experience of a lifetime in the heart of Cancun, we cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough! The chef prepared a bespoke 7 course tasting menu with a wine pairing for us for our honeymoon. The meal combined elements of traditional mexican with elements of global fine dining (think prosciutto topped carnitas on a corn flat bread or sashimi in mole and a mango salsa). The Chef's creativity, skill, and boldness was showed off in each dish along with the richness of the Mexican terroir and seas. The restaurant itself is a converted mansion. It was a bit tricky to make a reservation (we made one in person the day before), but I believe you can make one on the website. David, who ran the front of house, took excellent care of us and spoke fluent english. You will not find many meals of this caliber anywhere and never at this price!
It´s a tough call when it comes to rate fine dining. It should have a different bracket, unfortunately it doesn´t and I have to compromise. In terms of infraestructure and service it is outsanding, but it is very far from the other fine dining experience I had in Cancún. The service was good, the restaurant was empty wich makes it even harder to rate; the place is beautifull and the food is okay, definetly not outstanding.
From the moment we got out of our taxi the service from David our Waitperson was exemplary. He showed us to a private, romantic room that was set just for us. The food was fit for foodies... we had beautiful, tasty salads, rich... delectable tortilla soup....like none other I have had ...I had salmon with a chocolate molé sauce placed on top of a bed of gnocchi..my husband had beef that had been marinated 14 hours with molé sauce and whipped sweet potatoes. David chose and excellent red wine to accompany our meal... we both had a meringue tart with blueberries, whipping cream and macaroons.... the food was complex, beautiful and absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. I made a reservation in one day and received a reply within 12 hours.
Having lived in Cancun for many years, I have often driven past this mysterious home wondering what was hidden inside. This week I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious lunch and finally discovering the beauty of this unique restaurant. We were treated to a tasting menu, each course was elegantly presented by the extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff explaining the delicacies we were about to taste. The starter of a yellow fin tuna kibi or kivi was delightfully light with a great blend of flavours, a cool twist on the Yucatan/Lebanese kibi. The tortilla soup was perfect, I could have had two more bowls! The tlayoco was a salty treat, the combination of heavy and light textures was lovely. The next course was the main entree, slow-cooked ribs in a chil mole sauce with creamy sweet potatoes. I admit I am not normally a mole fan (I know, I know, shoot me! , but I literally cleaned the sauce off the plate with some bread. Dessert was a buñuelo filled with mascarpone cheese set on a sauce of coffee and ¨piloncillo, a blend of flavours that were perfect to close out the meal. We had the pleasure of meeting the chef, humble and kind and even a little bit shy, it was a honour. Overall this was a magnificent experience. I definitely recommend that tourists get out of the hotel zone and discover this gem downtown for a wonderful evening of Mexican cuisine.
Arranged via multiple emails a special birthday dinner for Friday January 11. We drove about 45 miles to make this a special evening. Upon arrival we found the restaurant closed and no one would answer the doorbell or page. Called multiple times and no one answered the phone. Emailed them the next day “what happened?” No response. Whether you are staying in Cancun or elsewhere this restaurant is out of the way. Do you really want to trust you’re evening to a restaurateur who may be a no show??? Not me.
