I ordered the soup, which was nice and hot, as well as a beautiful, crisp, and fresh salad with house-made avocado dressing. The service was exceptional. I anticipate that this restaurant will be busy on weekend nights.
Having dinner and drinks at The Rose has become a family tradition for us whenever we visit Canmore. The food is delicious and portion sizes are generous. I ordered The Shepherd's Pie from the pub menu and it was hot, tasty, and filling. While we dined inside tonight, I also highly recommend sitting on The Rose's Deck, which boasts stunning views of the Rocky Mountains in every direction.
We had a great time during our vacation. The weather was nice, and we enjoyed dining on the two excellent rooftop terraces (also see my review of the Magpie Stump). The atmosphere on the terrace was lovely, and the food was delicious. I ordered the special Burger and Fries for $15, and added extra cheese and bacon for an additional cost. The burger was fantastic, with great buns and flavorful meat. My companions ordered chicken fingers and fries, as well as a steak, and they all enjoyed their meals as well. The staff was busy but still managed to have a pleasant chat with us, creating a relaxed atmosphere.
I'm looking forward to something else, a pig dish. My experience is carving means meat. It was like a thick, boneless pig with dough, overhaul and toughness. The spatzel was tasteless with mysterious brown engraving and the caesar salad was soggy. The beer was good and cold. Waiting loud.
We stopped here late afternoon for a meal. We sat outside on their large patio. The waitress seemed a little snarky at first but by the time we were leaving she seemed in much better spirits. She was attentive just not very friendly. I had...the crispy chicken sandwich and fries. It was very good. Husband had the brisket sandwich which he said was very good.
