Und tres Belle Place . Very good Restaurant and impeccable service.
Food was excellent but I thought it was a pre plated cold meal, apparently the main course of lobster was supposed to be a hot dish, it was as cold as the cold starter. Our server, Elsa was very good but way too busy with too many tables to look after. We were sat down at 20:00 h and didn’t get our third course until 22:30 ! We went to watch the Bastille day fireworks and everyone in the restaurant had a special set menu of three courses for €120 which had to be paid in advance drinks. The restaurant wouldn’t let anyone in until 8pm consequently about 300 guests all came in at the same time, absolutely absurd, the kitchen staff couldn’t cope, the waiting staff couldn’t cope and the drink servers couldn’t cope. It was utter chaos from beginning to end. Our table had missing cutlery, missing bread (most other tables had bread on before people arrived). We ordered 4 beers as soon as we arrived, they took 25 minutes to get to the table. Ordered some more drinks with a similar arrival time and the next round of drinks failed to arrive at all. The quality of the food was good but the quantity was meagre. The management need to count the cash and laugh about the amount they took away from the customers and use that cash to go on a restaurant management training course. All in all a bad experience but the fireworks were superb. Will definitely not be returning to that restaurant ever again.
L’OndineA group of 6 of us spent the day in the beach club and had lunch at ~13:30 on a weekday. I was still easing into the awful GBP – Euro exchange rate on top of Cannes prices, but once I got through that we enjoyed the day. Lunch was superb and taking the above into account it was also good value taking the set menu option. Restaurant staff in particular were all super friendly and helpful. The seared tuna with crushed avocado was the hero for me. I’d go back for lunch if not the beach. Be aware of the cost of drinks though…
If you want to spend a day on the beach along the famous Croisette and are willing to pay for a sunlonger with waiter service(30€) and want to have a relatively simple lunch, this place ticks all those boxes. The main courses on the a la carte menu are large so unless you choose the one set menu, which at 38€ for 3 courses with good choices is perfectly fine considering the quality & location, I would recommend going without a hors d'oeuvres. My wife had the lobster linguini(40€ but it included a whole lobster)and I had their highly recommended veal Milanese(30€ but was an enormous escalope). Both were very good. The service is friendly and efficient and the ambience is exactly as you would expect at a comfortable beachside restaurant, with decent sized tables & good quality tableware. My main gripe is even a bottle of the local wine cost at least 40€ which in France is greedy even bearing in mind the position. They should have a cheaper carafe choice. So when you come here you most certainly are not having a cheap day at the beach. But you are on the Croisette in Cannes and it's a very pleasant way of doing it. If you have the budget I would recommend it.
