My best friend is Indian, and even though we aren't, we felt that this place was superior to several others in the Springs. We definitely plan to come back. It's the best restaurant we've found in the area and has a lovely atmosphere.
This spacious Indian restaurant is located in the heart of Canon City, a gateway to attractions like the Royal Gorge Bridge and the railway. We decided to stop here on our way back to Colorado Springs from exploring those sights. The restaurant is conveniently situated near a large correctional facility, with roadside parking available. Inside, the dining area is long and roomy, featuring a large counter and a big-screen TV. The menu is limited, focusing primarily on North Indian and Nepalese cuisine. We ordered Gobi Manchurian, which was decent, though the portion size was quite small. We also tried the salad, Chana Masala, Dal Tadka, Dal Makhni, and Paneer Tikka Masala, along with both garlic and regular naan. All the dishes were tasty but had an unusually high amount of sugar for savory items. Overall, the ambiance was pleasant, and the prices were reasonable. There was an odd smell at the entrance, which I hope is not typical for the restaurant. Our server, Shiva, from Nepal, was friendly and attentive. Overall, it's clear that they have maintained a good quality of food in a small town like Canon City, which is why I'm giving them a 5-star rating. Suggestions: 1. Ensure that the dining area smells fresh. 2. Use less sugar in vegetable dishes. Vegetarian options: The selection is limited, but there are still enough good vegetarian choices available.
I really enjoy the food here, particularly since it's the only Indian restaurant in town, and the service is excellent. My favorite dish is the lamb chops. However, something definitely needs to be addressed regarding the unpleasant plumbing smell that hits you as soon as you enter. Perhaps more air freshener would help.
Honestly, one of the best Indian food I've had around here. The naans were crispy and flavorful. The gobi manchurian was crunchy and tasty. We had Saag Paneer and that was also nice and spicy. The ambience was also very classy and the service (while not the friendliest) was good enough.
We had a family member visiting for a few days who loves Indian food. Our experience at Nirvana, as new residents in Cañon had been great, so we took him. He requested a 2nd trip in his 3 day visit! Our leftovers were equally good the next day.
