Alberrys - Canterbury

Nice place, good sharing platters, friendly staff. Quite atmospheric inside. Good selection of wine and beer

First but deffo not the last time , great bar with lovely atmosphere , staff engaging and friendly , well priced quality drinks head here and defiantly not the Hampton Socialite over the road , see separate review for that !

We discovered this little bar and restaurant by happenstance whilst wandering the back streets of Canterbury. We were there in the early evening and the restaurant was quiet so we had the undivided attention of the owner/staff person there. We opted for a lovely blend red wine which was delicious. (We might have had a top up if honest. We ordered a combo platter which was presented on a giant wooden board with hummus, British cheeses, crackers, bread, and so forth. Rather than just giving us the standard combo plate, the owner accommodated our every wish and dietary concern and made the entire platter to order (with very generous portions . Alberrys was such a lovely experience that we returned another night.

Despite always popping in to Alberrys when in Canterbury, it dawned on me whilst in there recently that I have never left a review and it really does deserve one! This place is a must it is always our first stop and now is our last stop on the way back to the station too! The cocktails are the best and if there if you cant quite decide what you fancy, just let them know what you like and they will make one up for you!! My favourite has to be the chocolatini (think Terrys chocolate orange in a glass! there is a white chocolate version too if you fancy an alternative. We then had an after eight one made up for us which was equally as lovely. When leaving, and promising to return on our way home, I asked if they did a Brandy Alexander as that was always one of my favourites back in the day they didnt, but they popped out for a bottle of brandy so that I could have one when I returned! In all the times we have been there, we have never actually stopped for food they do a great selection of grazing platters but I do think we will try this out next time! And finally, the staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and hard working. They really do make everyone feel welcome and go out of their way to make your time there enjoyable.
