The Duke William Ickham - Canterbury

The restaurant offers a wide selection of dishes, from traditional pub classics to other main courses. The wine list is impressive. The service was excellent, and all the staff were very friendly.

This is not our first time visiting this restaurant, and it certainly won't be our last. The food is excellent, as is the beer and the staff. The Sunday Roast is outstanding, and I also tried the cheeseburger on a previous visit and it was top quality. I highly recommend giving this pub a try - you won't be disappointed.

The food was fantastic, the service was top-notch, the location was stunning, and the ambiance was lovely. We absolutely adored it!

We were disappointed that the Manager Hugh was not based in Ickham on the day we went there for lunch. Apparently, he has been transferred to try to improve standards at other pubs in the group that are not doing so well. One of the main reasons we go to the Duke William is for Hugh's warm welcome if he is not there, we may go elsewhere, as Hugh provides an exceptional dining experience. He always goes the extra mile! We love the ambiance at the Duke William that it's easy to park. The staff are generally polite and helpful. Lizzie was exceptionally friendly helpful, providing good service with a smile. Jenny is also amazing! Kind, friendly just adorable! The management of the Duke William is very fortunate to have staff like Hugh Jenny! To be honest, the main problem is the food, it is always so bland. I'm sure the chef has some tasty recipes up his sleeve, so why not give him free rein to provide food with flavour? There used to be an amazing vegetarian curry on the menu that we loved! Please bring it back! The decor village location are 1st class. However, I did notice that the floor and wall tiles in the ladies are in need of a deep clean. Ditto the seats at the window tables could do with a shampoo to remove stains. Maybe the cleaners have become complacent? We are very fond of the Duke William have been regular customers for over 20 years, so any criticism is intended to be helpful to raise standards.

Food was OK nothing fab. Had the chicken and lamb kofta, it was a bit meat heavy, a nice mixed salad or coleslaw would have helped and the sauce that was over the top of it wasn't very nice. Service was good.
