For anyone looking for a nice spot at Capbreton port to have lunch this is it. A great atmosphere created by friendly staff and sea view. The effectiveness of waiters was unbelievable with our food arriving within minutes. Food tasted great from the burgers to the salads and the sea food was great aswell. Would absolutely come back and recommend for anyone.
Special day spoiled by arrogant and rude proprietor. We live in France and run a small restaurant so we are very aware of the pressures on businesses in the sector, however we are also aware that customer service is paramount and even if you cannot raise a smile for your clients, courtesy costs nothing, especially from the proprietor. My French wife and I went to ‘Belharra Café’ on the 14th August; we ate early as we had an hour or so drive to get home. We have both been under the weather for a while; me having recently lost my mum and my wife suffering from total exhaustion. We decided to spend the day on the coast finishing with a few oysters and foie gras at Belharra. The welcome from the general waiting staff was good, but when the boss took our order, he looked down on us in a condescending manner and said, ‘Is that ALL!’ Well it only 44.50€ but it was light meal; we are both on medication and cannot drink much and in any event driving after a glass or two is dangerous. We love oysters and ordered a dozen and whilst eleven looked normal, the last one was in a dark yellow juice which we didn’t fancy. My wife asked the boss to change it and he was very rude indicating that this is normal. (My wife is French and has loved oysters since she was a child so she knows what is normal) That maybe the case and the verdict is out on that, but his attitude was deplorable. Summer is when restaurants on the coast make their money, but this proprietor would do to remember that locals like us return time and again. Foie Gras was good but very skimpy and badly presented.
Had to dive in here when the weather turned. It was lunch time so decided to get some food. Great view however the food is overpriced. I got a lot of salmon but for 15 euros for some smoked salmon and toast was pricey, as was 16 for a chicken salad. I would suggest popping in for a coffee but maybe not food.
