Star Hill Golf Club - Cape Carteret

Got to play 9 holes of the Pines side! Nice track for the money. Driving range was a little rough and only 150 yards. Tee boxes were good, fairways mostly plush and Bermuda greens rolling pretty quick. The pace of play was a little slower today but usually the pace is ahead of schedule. Shot a nice 39 from the blues with a great opening birdie but a disappointing closing bogey. Didn’t see any gators but did see some big squirrels.

Went golfing today and it was a long day. First, I find out the price had increased to 62$, second me and my playing partner were paired with another group of two. No problem, but there was a clear handicap difference. Now to my #1 gripe of the day. Pace of play, pace of play, pace of play, pace of play. The golf cart gps kept notifying us we were behind pace. Yet the group of 3 that didn’t let anyone play through all day, didn’t bother to speed it up a bit. On almost all 18 holes, there was at least a one group wait. More often than not though, it was a two group wait. The only reason it gets two stars is because the course was in good shape. But was it 62$ nice? No.

Great course, especially considering the price. All the staff we encountered were outstanding. Will definitely return.

Was a single and wanted to hook up with others to play but they don't make any attempt to do so. $50 to play 18 but $40 for 9? Make it make sense. Driving range is about 150 yards. Staff is not accommodating or friendly.

Great course. A hand full of holes that will challenge you.
