The Shanty - Cape Charles

We ate with The Shanty twice. We ate there for lunch and knew we had to go to dinner again the night before we left The Eastern Shore. The staff was wonderful and we had the best seafood at the Eastern Shore. The dough on fried shrimps, oysters and scallops was the best. The old bay that spiced on the Pommes was also a pleasant surprise

A must visit for seafood lovers when visiting Cape Charles. If you have the time plan your stop around sunset for an absolutely amazing sunset... The food was very good, though I found the tacos a bit pricy, they were very good. This is a pet friendly restaurant, at the marina with an amazing view, just a short walk from the downtown shopping district..

Great location next to the marina. Outdoor seating overlooking the ocean and if you time it just right, you get to enjoy the glorious sunset free of charge, for the whole duration of your stay. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. The food was very enjoyable. Great experience all the way around Before you keave the restaurant note this: If you don't know the area take a screenshot of your driving directions back, as there is no internet connection on nearby roads and we got lost...in the dark.... and it is dark around there. .

Get a real sense of place here. Clearly staffed by locals, you feel welcomed into this waterman’s world. The decor of unpainted wood, concrete, corn hole boards, and local photos. The bathrooms are very clean and a welcomingly cool spot on a hot day. Our food was fresh and tasty, definitely connecting our palates with the Bay. Be sure to order some Shanty Fries. They’ve got something special they’ve created there. The flavoring is subtle and an unexpected delight. The background music and crowd noise creates a hum that can make it difficult to hear if your group is larger than four. If so, the deck dining is breezy and lovely.

We always come here to The Shanty when we visit our in-laws in Cape Charles! It never disappoints! Blackened Mac Cheese, Fish Tacos, Calamari, and Hushpuppies are all favorites!
