Mckay's Carry Out - Capitol Heights

I stumbled upon this hidden gem by chance. It's a small, unassuming place away from the main road, but it's truly a delightful secret. I ordered the fish and chicken combo along with some hush puppies (which I couldn't capture in a photo because they were too delicious!). The fish is whiting, so there are some bones, but that doesn't detract from the flavor. I really enjoyed the chicken as well; you can choose to have it with lemon pepper or other seasonings. I only gave it four stars because I prefer my chicken to be fried crispy, and this one wasn’t quite to my liking. However, that’s not a deal breaker. The restaurant is clean, and they have two bathrooms. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience.

The service is quick, so don't opt for delivery—come in and treat yourself to a generous bowl of genuine human connection, paired with some truly delicious home-style food. This has quickly become my favorite breakfast spot, and it’s exactly what I needed. The waffles are fluffy, flavorful, and melt in your mouth. The tender meat is juicy with fantastic seasoning, and the mac and cheese is on another level. If there were a six-star rating, I'd give it!
