Auberge Le Plo - Carcassonne

We had starters of goats cheese served in a crisp pastry parcel with lots of green leaves and Camembert served with bread. These were followed by salmon with a lovely lentil sauce served in a bowl and pork with mustard sauce and a shared plate of chips. All the food was good, and with a bottle of wine our bill was €64. Nice decor and relaxed atmosphere.

We visited Carcassonne for a weekend recently, having our last meal in Le Plo. We both loved the food served by very pleasant personnel in a lovely atmosphere. It is very good value, we would repeat and recommend.

Ate there twice very nice friendly staff , good food good wine and beer and accommodating if you do not speak french all round recommended

Beautiful courtyard restaurant in the middle of the citadel just off the main square. The initial service was what I would call 'business like ', brusque to the point of being rude, begrudgingly taking our order, despite not being very busy when we arrived. Then, once we had been softened up, in comes the nicest waiter with speedy service with a smile. Food was good, cooked just right and even my Daughter 's rare entrecôte was tender and not at all chewy. We were unlucky with the weather and as a result quite cold sitting in a courtyard at night, but take a jumper and prepare for a wait and it 's not a bad option for dinner.

The tables are very close together, good menu at a reasonable price but no bookings taken after 7.30pm, I had duck which was very undercooked however the chef did apologise and gave us a better cheese to follow as an apology. When we went into book the man at the desk but was not happy we could not speak French or gave that impression we are very aware that we do not speak a second language and don't expect others to either but continuing to speak to us in French doesn't help !
