I thought our meal would be great, the weeping and my man, who speaks very little French, usually makes friends with all the animals he meets. he thought charlotte was great fun and probably managed to get her whole vocabulary out before we left. the intimacy of a restaurant where the owner is busy with her well-being and the chef is happy to show them how he makes the cassoulet beautiful. just one note, I do not expect the service to be fast, but I expect a beautiful atmosphere, friendliness that will be shown to my curious husband who loves eating and wein francreichs and will ask so many, and great eating. just a side note I don't travel to carcasonne to eat lasagne, no matter how delicious. I am very tired of how rude people can write this critique and was very surprised to see how comfortable people feel critical to the decor, the time it takes to serve and various other things they find to be rude. we love to visit France. we had a few cassoulets and that was by far the best.
My wife and i were very fortunate to have Christmas lunch here. I say fortunate as not much was open therefore our choices were limited. Nicolas from 45 B&B arranged it for us and we both had the house specialty Cassoulet. It was delicious and...the staff were very friendly. Going to this great little restaurant made our Christmas which could otherwise have been very lonely. Cassoulet-great,deserts-lovely,price-reasonable. The Cassoulet was 18 euros which we were more than happy to pay given the day it was!! We went back numerous times over the ensuing week!
My husband and I found this restaurant by accident but we were looking for a traditional cassoulet for lunch. I thought our meal was superb, the wine delightful and my husband who speaks very little French usually makes friends with all the animals he encounters, he thought Charlotte was great fun and probably managed to get her entire vocabulary out before we left. The intimacy of a restaurant where the owner is concerned with your well being and the chef is delighted to show you how he makes the cassoulet was lovely. Just a note, I do not expect service to be fast but I expect a nice atmosphere, kindness shown to my curious husband who loves the food and wine of France and so will ask lots of questions, and great food. Just a side note I don't travel to Carcasonne to eat lasagna no matter how delicious...I am very tired of how rude people can be writing these critiques and was very surprised to see how comfortable people feel being critical of the decor, the time it takes to get served and various other things they find to be rude about. We love visiting France..we have had a few cassoulets and this was by far the best.
We were recommended this little gem by our hotel and were not disappointed, The restaurant was busy when we arrived and it appeared to be full of locals and French business couples in a touristy Medieval town. The service was OK and the wine Vin Rouge and Blanc el regionale arrived without fuss. I ordered the Cassoulet and my wife the Duck, both were well cooked and presented and I thought the price was exceptionally cheap given we had been in the South of France and Spain for a while. Would not hesittate in recommending this to our circle of friends.
We ate here on recommendation from our hotel. The food was OK and it was nice to try cassoulet but there was only one waiter and once the restaurant got busy the service became exceedingly slow.
