We went to the deli for lunch. I was keen on the Ruben, but one look at the menu changed my mind. I went with the classic Ploughman’s lunch. Whilst it said it was a shared platter, for my daughter and I, it was HUGE. Great lumps of excellent cheddar, a bowl of chutney and really good bread. Rest of the table had the Salt Beef sambo, and Mum went the tuna sandwich. Service was excellent. I have seen the other comments on poor service, BUT this is not what I experienced. Staff were chatty and friendly and very helpful. Selection of deli goods with a welsh bent were great, and we walked out with unique cheeses, some welsh beer and other goodies. Really like this place. Will go back.
I had a takeaway salad the other day and asked if I could have the salt beef in a salad instead of the sandwich. It was agreed (hesitantly) that it would be £4.50 as it was a salad not a sandwich. If that’s not usual practice or it should be more, then I’m sorry but you should just say, it’s not £4.50 it’s the £7 odd the same as a sandwich. I’ve come in today and asked for the same because I enjoyed it. The staff member was confused at my request to even put it in a salad and I explained that it was done the other day. Blankly still measured out the salt beef and said “well it’s still going to be £6 something”. Where does £6 come from? I told her to forget it and ventured to a much cheaper and in my opinion better quality establishment both in produce and service. The menu is not clear, nor is the staff and it seems that it’s any price will do with who ever serves. To be quite frank, if £4.50 is the going rate for a ham salad or “basic” ingredient, you also have a pricing issue. I Work very close, would of liked you as a usual lunch spot but won’t be returning.
Walked in at 4pm to be rudely spoken to by the only member of staff, to be told we shut shortly. They shut at 5pm. And the coffee machine was turned off and we were able to have a cold drink. I'm disgusted to be treated like this, the staff member was stood doing nothing clearly wanted to go home early. Advise all to avoid, several other cafe's in the village with much better service
I stopped by this restaurant for a hot drink at 4pm today. The woman working at the counter informed me that they were closing at 5pm and had already turned off the coffee machine. She suggested we could have a cold drink and cake instead. It was clear that she was not interested in serving us. The service was disappointing and the attitude was terrible. We decided to leave and go to Ve Wild across the street. The staff there were much more accommodating and the food and coffee were delicious.
