My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant for 11 years now and the Chef here is Fantastic!! and cooks my beef vindaloo to perfection. This place has had a few ups and downs in the past with staff but after visiting it recently we had very good service by a stand-in"Manager" by the name of Jess who had everything in perfect control and had her staff working as a team. The atmosphere was great the food was great and the service Great!
Lovely surrounds, felt like I truly had been transported to exotic Ceylon, pretty flowing sheer curtains, mounted on high rods dividing off sections of tables, great seating, however the table a little too high and the seats could be a little higher. I sorted that with a few comfy cushions. Roomy tables, well spaced away from other diners, The carpet and fabrics absorbed any noise. I was barely aware of my surroundings however, as I ate way too much. The vegetarian pakora entrée, that was obviously meant for 2 persons, however I made fast work of it, but left hardly any room for the main of Alu Gobi with steamed rice. Oh yum just the soul food I needed. It was very tasty fresh vegetables, washed down with a glass of Merlot the brand I cannot recall now though perhaps I should have stuck to water. The food did repeat on me several hours later surprisingly, however it may have been the combination of the different spices that I have not consumed for a while. I am not put off and will certainly will go back to try other meals. Very attentive and efficient wait staff. A welcome addition to Bulimba eating houses.
We had dinner here for 6 people and ordered a number of dishes for us to all try. The waitress was very helpful as one of our table can't have any dairy. They immediately went to the Chief and found out what was dairy free for them to eat from the menu. The mixed entrees came quickly and all together. A great selection and all hot and fresh. The wine list was very reasonably priced which was a pleasant surprise. The selection of mains all came in small dishes and were very easy to manage around the table. They were also hot and served together. They came and checked on our table at least twice to make sure we had everything and were happy with the food.A great place to eat with a big selection and good prices!
Ate there recently on a visit to Brisbane. We had eaten here 8 years ago and remembered the food was great. We went on a Tuseday and found the setting still to be relaxed and inviting the staff friendly and the food fabulous. We ate Samosas for entree which were huge and very tasty, shared steamed rice Tikka Masala and Beef Rendang with Naan bread for mains. With a soda water and a beer it only came to $67.15. Great value .We were so happy that we went back 2 nights later and had Vegetarian spring rolls 2 other dishes with rice and Roti bread. Just lovely. Wish they weren't so far away.
