Riina's - Carlingford

We went to Rinnas as a family after a nice day out in Carlingford. Next to the seaside we wanted to enjoy some seafood so we ordered a few different things such as seafood platter, crab claws, caprese salad, etc. First the caprese salad was advertised to be with buffalo mozzarella and we only got regular mozzarella which we paid 10€ when it probably cost about 2€ to make. We asked the waitress why it was buffalo mozzarella and she assured us it was according to the chef. As an Italian native and buffalo mozzarella lover I can assure you it wasn’t. In our seafood platter we were suppose to have oysters, langoustines, squid, mussels and scallops but the oysters and squid were missing. We then asked the waitress about it and she told us that they didn’t get the delivery yet and we were not aware about it. When the time came to pay I asked the person who seemed to be the boss if we were going to get a discount for the missing oysters and squid. She told me that the chef got us extra food (which we were not aware of) and made it seem complicated. In the end we got the discount but only after we asked and it should have been offered to us straight away. Overall the food and service was average and I wouldn’t recommend it. Plus the front door was being locked at all time and we had to ask someone to open if we needed to go out for a cigarette which was strange.

It’s a lovely spot we’ve eaten in it before but the last time I ordered carbonara. All I can say is it tasted unpleasant When I brought it up apparently the chef was off and someone else cooked. I’d say close up if it’s going to be that bad.

The most reasonable good food restaurant I’ve been to in ages, caring and attentive staff in warm comfortable atmosphere. The best Italian I’ve been in north of Modena most definitely will be back

Terrible experience in Riina’s. Very unfortunate as we have heard great things about this place. Staff were rude, abrupt and unapologetic for a series of mistakes they made.They left our table unattended, did not offer a drinks service, very slow to pick up starters and waited over 60 mins for our main course. We ended up cancelling our order. Extremely disappointed
