My partner and I ordered the Shipyard beer several times and each pint had a massive frothy head. We eventually asked for the Shipyard to settle before the pour was completed. The next day, when we returned to see our friends off, we ordered another round and once again the beer had huge heads. I requested multiple times for it to settle, explaining that Shipyard is similar to Guinness and needs time to settle for a good pint. Despite my efforts, the shift leader refused to top up the pint, displaying poor knowledge of hospitality. I asked for a refund and was shown that they do not pour the refunded beer down the sink but instead serve it to the next customer. We were served pre-poured pints from below the counter. Eventually, we left with wasted beer in exchange for a refund instead of a top up. The final pint, along with the Brewers Association guidelines, were shown to the shift supervisor before requesting the refund. The British Beer Pub Association guidelines state that customer requests for top-ups should be received graciously and never refused, as long as spillage is avoided. Unfortunately, this was not the case at this establishment.
Visited with a friend, both had a Mixed Grill with a Dark Fruits Cider, by far best Spoons meal I’ve had, blown away at quality of both meals and the service was fantastic, very friendly and welcoming, we will be back.
Stopped in for breakfast and it was freshly cooked, served quickly and most enjoyable! Friendly barmaid and very helpful with the coffee machines! Will definitely return!
Every time we come to this pub the manager in his wisdom knocks off the app for ordering at your table , When asked he couldn’t give me a answer only to say order at bar , What’s the point having a app if you can’t use it , Will not return till this stupid issue is sorted or better still replace manager and get one that understands there customers needs a bit better. Not a happy bunny
I don't know what it is with spoons, but I think one of the conditions of employment, you must be miserable, not one member in this pub, smiled or said please or thank you, even though we tried to engage, pub is nice, the food is what you come to expect from a spoons , just.wish staff were a bit more customer friendly.
