La Tienda - Carlitos

I enjoyed shopping here for some of our grocery needs. They have comparable prices on their products and a nice selection of goods. The fresh tortillas were delicious! I always found the best deals on fresh meat, bakery goods, and produce at La Tienda.

My favorite place to shop for groceries in Carlsbad New Mexico. Good parking. Excellent selections and well stocked. The place to go for any Mexican specialties. Very helpful staff. Excellent meat department. Get there before noon and you can pick up a couple of their excellent selection of they're freshly prepared burritos.

I love to shop at latienda. Friendly cashiers. One caught my attention. Margaretta or margherita. I didn't have my glasses on. She talked to me like we've known each other forever. Gotta say our world could use a lot more friendly people. Way to go Marge!!!!! Give your dogs hugs for me!!!!Even though we're strangers I felt like you've been my best friend forever.

The positives: There's an excellent variety of liquor available and the baked goods are fantastic. The negatives: The service at the deli is extremely slow, and the meat and dairy products seem outdated. I purchased a quart of half-and-half without checking the expiration date, assuming it would be fine since these products usually last one to two months. Unfortunately, it was only a week away from expiring. I won't be buying any fresh items here again, but I would still prefer it over Walmart.

I typically order tacos for lunch at this place, and my wife and I really enjoy them because they aren't greasy. They're made fresh while you wait, although the shells and other ingredients are pre-prepared, which helps speed up the service. This time, I went in planning to get nopales and corn chips but decided to pass on the nopales because they looked old and had dark spots. So, I only ended up getting the chips.
