Poppies - Carmarthenshire

I am delighted to see that this cafe is now open for reviews. A few months ago, on a cold and rainy Welsh afternoon, we visited with a Groupon voucher and left satisfied after enjoying delicious, well-filled toasted Italian-style rolls (paninis?) and cakes with a generous pot of tea. The service was friendly and efficient. The staff even brought a fan heater to our table for added warmth, which we greatly appreciated. The prices were reasonable even without a Groupon voucher. Additionally, the location is conveniently close to the motorway exit.

I have been wanting to try out this small cafe for a while now, as the food pictures online looked fantastic. My partner and I finally went to visit, and he ordered a toasted brie, cranberry, and bacon sandwich, while I opted for a tuna mayo toasted sandwich; both came with a side salad. The total cost for 2 sandwiches and 1 cup of black coffee came to over £11.00, which I believe is too expensive for a simple lunch meal. The food was tasty, but not worth the high price. I will likely choose to dine elsewhere for a similar price or less. The cakes looked delicious and the cafe was clean and inviting.

The cakes at this café may look nice, but they are quite overpriced. Two slices of cake, a tea, and a coffee ended up costing more than expected for a café of this caliber. The quality was average and did not match the high prices.

We went to Poppies yesterday lunchtime after I had seen it on facebook. There is lots of free car parking outside we soon found the coffee shop. There was a wide variety of food on the menu but not particularly cheap at £6.30 for a jacket potato with tuna. We ordered 3 jacket potatoes and after quite a wait over 20 mins we had our food. It was well presented lovely hot my only comment would be that larger plates might be an idea or less lettuce as soon as you touched it something fell onto the table. Girls were very polite good customer service.

Lovely place to eat, sandwiches are freshly made, with a choice of wholemeal or white bloomer bread, generously filled, homemade coleslaw or olives on the side and a large side salad. Great choice of soups also, again a very generous portion. Good selection of teas, coffee and cakes. All food freshly prepared to order. Staff are excellent, friendly, efficient and accommodating.
