Not booked, but they accommodated us on the terrace. we had the French that was just perfect. it was accompanied by their pinot noir, which was awesome. service only exceptional. really glad we came. I wanted to try her saperavi when I paid the bill and picked up a bottle of it under my arm, wow, what a delicious drop. we're coming back!
We arrived in blistering heat and went into the winery to choose the wine we wanted to buy for the meal. We tried about 8 different wines from, red, rose, white, sparkling, dry, sweet, anything you liked. We then took the wine next door and...had fish of the day. It was beautiful and Tom came out to to check we were happy with it. A lovely experience.
A special birthday celebration, a table of12 at Toms Kitchen on Saturday. We experienced the most delicious perfectly cooked food, every plate was outstanding in flavour presentation. Entree of duck spring rolls were so delicious with small salad perfectly dressed delicious with micro...herbs yum. My main of WA Red Snapper on risotto with lemon butter sauce, husband had Rack of Lamb, duck fat potatoes green, OMG OMG OMG, both sensational. Tom the chef really knows how to cook exceptionally well presentation is a feast for the eyes. Wait staff are very professional, friendly ready to please. Thank you Toms Kitchen we had a great day will return for sure.
We first visited Fairbrossen a few years ago and back then it was awesome. We have been several times since then and unfortunately it’s gone down hill. On this occasion it didn’t help that the restaurant was totally unprepared for bad weather at this time...of year and people were getting wet from the rain while trying to eat lunch. Maybe it would be good if the owners invested in some proper weather proof blinds for their eating area, for winter and summer? The restaurant doesn’t have a liquor licence now so you if you want wine you have to leave your table to go and buy it from the cellar door. I’m not sure about soft drinks, our table wasn’t asked. This occasion was a three course set menu. Myself and many in the group do not really like three courses but we had no other option. I found the food ok but lacking something. For example Steak and potatoes not something I would normally expect. A few people in our group were not impressed. We also felt quite rushed, the waitress hovering and whisking away empty plates before people had finished eating. The restaurant was very busy for Father’s Day so perhaps they were just under the pump. It is a lovely place to visit, I just hope they raise their game a little and return to their former glory. We won’t be back in a hurry.
