Because of the layout of the hotel, the restaurant courtyard is right in the center and noise level from there travels to the rooms. It doesn’t help that they play bass heavy music at the bar till 11pm even though they state on their website they have a strict no noise policy. On one night music went past 11pm and we had to call multiple times before they turned it off. If you stay on the ground floor, you would also have to contend with the creaks from the room above and it can get pretty bad depending on who stays there. So basically our sleeping hours were at best from 11pm-6am. When we made note to the front desk, our comments were greeted with disdain. So condescending and patronizing by this lady Monica who apparently is the manager. And I’ve read another bad review about her. If she doesn’t like to be friendly maybe don’t be in the hospitality industry? When we checked out, she never even said thank you. Despite of the lack of example Monica sets, everyone else was lovely. They were polite, welcoming, helpful, and simply a pleasure to be around. The hotel also provides good amenities. The breakfast is tasty and offers good choices. They tidy your room twice a day and leave cookies in the evening. They have a hotel car that can drive you locally. They have glass bottled still and sparkling water in the room along with nuts and caramel. If noise isn’t a concern for you and you don’t have to interact with Monica, definitely consider this hotel if you like proximity to the restaurants and shops.
Bravo to the chefs, sommeliers everyone else involved in the exquisite tasting menu and wine pairing we experienced last night. Every course was beautifully created and presented but more importantly, absolutely delicious. The saki /wines paired perfectly with each tantalizing course. Everything about our experience was 5 stars. Thank you for a spectacular evening!
Amazing! L'Auberge Carmel truly displays the legendary service they advertise. Rooms are very nice and spacious with all you need to have a lovely stay, not much of a view, however, the service provided definitely makes for it. Friendly, attentive, intuitive service from the arrival and after your departure. I did notice that if you stay in the lower floor rooms, at times your hear the upstairs noise slightly but that didn't bother us at all and I had a great night sleep. The location of the hotel is super convenient, close to all types of restaurants and the heart of Carmel shopping and art galleries. The breakfast was excellent quality delivered with seamless service. I'll be definitely returning to this hotel and reccomended with my family and friends.
Thank you for a perfect dining experience. Sensually exquisite. 5-star customer service, superb Chefs/ Head Chef, and excellent Sommelier. Fabulous birthday dinner and we will be back. Romantic and cozy. perfect room temperature with comfortable seating and easy on-the-eyes lighting/ ambiance. White glove service and cleanliness. Will definitely request a repeat. A+ side note we did not stay at the hotel, just the dining.
Ive stayed at dozens of relais et chateaux and have noted a consistent downward track Their restaurants remain top notch but the rooms and amenities are pitiful Some of the staff is wonderful Others useless if not surly Its sad Skimpy breakfast menu and even so they only had plain ice cold toast no wholecwheat even though it was the only other listed toast C’mon! Where was their famous kitchen when the breakfast orders went out? We used to know that a hotel that boasted the relais association was a guaranteed winner after our experience here we’ll never bother with a relais hotel again Too many excellent hotels to waste time at these
