Safeway Deli - Carmel-by-the-Sea

I love my safeway at the intersection, Carmel. Manager Joe Miguel runs a great store. The staff is fantastic. I often go there and have no complaints. The products and meat departments are particularly good. If any returns are required, they are always carried out immediately and without any questions.

If I could give these people negative stars, they are absolutely vulnerable when it comes to customer service. Beautiful business, wide choice, Morons for managers; teaching their job, training their employees on even basic customer service. Fall in point, my last visit asked two stickers where there is an article, first, Well, it could be here, or there, or maybe over there, maybe... Next Stocker I don't know, I just worked here two months... Go to her deli, at least four people who work there, you will only consider occasional, then ignore. I finally ignore after about 5 minutes to meet the guy who's job to help. I declare that he says there is no job... I said not to even recognize a waiting customer. That's not her job. Finally spoke with an assistant manager and got the 20 miles star followed by, well enjoy the rest of your day. YCNMTSU!

I've been getting sandwiches from the Deli area for a few weeks. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Norma in the Deli area makes the best sandwiches. Many options for everyone.

Really nice Safeway. You have very fresh products, a clean shop, a place to eat your food, bathroom and a laundry area. We went here to get some snacks and a breakfast sandwich. You can't go wrong on the Carmel Safeway.

I have shopped here for over 30 years. Today I grabbed a bag of frozen shrimp. The sign clearly says $9.99. I get to the check stand they scan at $23.98, on sale now $17.98!!!!! So I ask the guy at self check- he goes and checks. Comes back and tells me the 31-40s are $9.99.... Ok.... So I go check. Lo and behold three men from the meat department are stocking this EXACT area with the sale shrimp- and the ones that I picked up were moved to another case. This is dishonest. This was THEIR mistake. Groceries are expensive enough! The deli is a disaster. I don't even bother with it anymore. They can have 5 people behind the counter pretending to be working while you wait to try and get cold cuts. They have more booze than a liquor store but no Pellegrino- virtually no non alcoholic beverages besides cola. I only shop here because some brands are not available at Trader Joe's. Lines at checkout are always long so I opt for self check. Rarely are there people available to bag groceries- Beware of pricing in this store!!!!
