They accommodated her dietary needs with exceptional care, ensuring that there were no gluten-containing items on the plate. This level of attention to detail was fantastic. Alan, who was in charge of the front of the house, was friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We paid £157 for the two of us for the night, which included dinner and breakfast—a real bargain for the quality provided. The wine list may be small, but it features excellent selections with very reasonable prices. The location is conveniently about 25 minutes from the ferry terminals in Kintyre. We highly recommend visiting!
This small, family-run hotel is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle. The visitor book in the lounge dates back to the 1940s, and I couldn't find a single disappointed review. The rooms were immaculate, and the beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The feather pillows and linens were pure luxury, and the homemade shortbread left for us each day was another delightful touch! The food was what originally drew us to this hotel, and after a long five-hour journey—just as Paul McCartney's song describes—we were eager to taste what awaited us. We spent two nights there with four adults and three children, and we were absolutely thrilled with the fantastic meals. Alyson and Alan were amazing hosts, and the cuisine was spectacular—beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, and we were so enchanted by everything that we didn’t want to leave anything uneaten. The breakfast was the best we’ve ever had! I brought my American partner for his first trip to Scotland, and I’m so glad we chose Dunvallanree. We wanted to offer him a true taste of Scotland at its finest, and Alyson exceeded all our expectations. We had the hotel, the beach, and the bay all to ourselves—Dunvallanree is truly a hidden gem. I can’t say enough good things about this place, and I’m already plotting our return as soon as we left! The only regret we had was that we didn’t book a longer stay. Next time, we’ll definitely stay longer!
