Johnny's Chef - Carrickfergus

Tried the Beef with Bamboo Shoots and Cashew Nuts, number 71, with boiled rice. Also picked Stir Fried Mixed Vegetables from their Extra Dishes list. To be honest, 71 is a bit boring and bland. Nothing was wrong with it, and with the Extra Dishes order it fed two people very well. Next time I’ll go back to an old favourite instead, 15c, 27, 79, 92 and the Chef’s Special of Salt Chilli Squid are all great. Johnny's Chef is very well located, a few meters from the (1877 1890) train station, or a little more to the free park-and-ride car park. There’s a bus stop there, as well. Next door to Johnny's Chef is a brand-new JandRs Pizzeria. New inside the train station is the Offline Gallery, with a show of paintings and sculptures.

The food at this restaurant was not good - it was very salty and had a gloopy texture. To make matters worse, I received the wrong order. When I called to complain, they just laughed at me. I definitely won't be coming back to this place.

Was a little reluctant to go here, but when I saw the amount of business being, it had to ve good. I had Crispy Lemon chicken with fried rice. Absolutely delicious. Enough for 2 meals, and only £7.30. Highly recommend and will definitely be back this week.

Why some terrible reviews? Here in our motorhome and had a fabulous takeaway again, we were here in 2021 and it was as good as I remember, open kitchen so you can see your food being cooked, it was so good we had a takeaway two nights running.

I always have a great experience at this restaurant when visiting Whitehead on holiday. The food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and it's conveniently located near the train station. The staff is consistently efficient, and the meals are served quickly.
