Initially, they told us they weren’t accepting dine-in customers anymore, but I must have looked sufficiently disappointed for the hostess to allow us to stay since we had technically arrived on time. She did mention, however, that she generally goes by how busy they are on Fridays. The menu had a wide variety of items, but unfortunately, they were out of the Korean dish my boyfriend wanted. He settled for ribs and brisket instead. He had wanted to order a huge meal that included several kinds of meat and ribs, but it turns out you need to place that order at least an hour before closing, so that option was off the table as well. The lesson learned is that if you want to fully enjoy what they offer for dine-in, it’s best to arrive a couple of hours before their stated closing time — especially since it’s in a small town. The menu featured many options, and the sweet tea was delicious, along with the pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, and sweet potato casserole (which is exactly what I ordered!). The interior was cozy and clean, and the waitress, who is also the baker, was very friendly and charming. When we arrived, there was only one other family with kids in the restaurant, and by the time we finished around 8 PM, we were the last ones left. It made for a lovely, quiet date night, and I plan to bring my dad here next time he's in town; I know he would enjoy it. Plus, I spotted about five other dishes I'd love to try!
Look, the food is good. The BBQ is smoky, tangy, and rich. The sweet potato casserole is delicious, but the potato salad and corn muffins were eh. But the SERVICE. Good Lord the service was terrible. The waitress was rude and literally interrupted our private conversation to yell No more potatoes! The rules are bizarre (2 baked potatoes per table, order 30 minutes prior to closing). I still don 't understand why they don 't just close a half hour earlier... They were out of many of the menu items, and as I mentioned the waitress was intrusive at best.
This was our favorite restaurant in the area. We had philly brisket sandwich with coleslaw and Beef Bulgogi with fries and rice and Korean egg rolls called Mandoo. The meat was very tender and not stringy, portions are large and price is reasonable. The atmosphere is pictures from the butcher shop and diner table and chairs, nothing real fancy but honey. A very nice family run restaurant.. It is a truthful restaurant signs that ask you to pay cash but take debit cards, fries not made in house but cooked in their lard, girly chicken salad, daughter as waitress very knowledgeable about menu items and sauces). Wish we lived closer to bring some meat home, they do not ship.
As my husband and walked into the diner, 3 pm on a Tuesday. The lady who owns it, I 'm assuming, was very rude. We both went to the bathroom and picked a table, cause as you can guess there was not a single person in the restaurant. She came by not even a moment later to take our order, cause you know someone is suppose to choose in like 30 secs after never looking at a menu. Anyway, we asked a couple questions and the lady responded with a very condescending attitude. We ordered our food and wait. Oh and did I mention you don 't get a drink til after you order your food. I noticed on the menu, that you are charged $2 for sharing, because you may use facilities. As you kidding me. This is insane. So let 's move on to our food. And before I start to describe what I actually ate, let me tell you the first thing I noticed that was outputting. I heard microwave sounds coming from the kitchen. Not once, not twice, but three times, food of ours was put in there. And I can tell you everything on my plate went in there. On to what we ordered, my husband had the bbq sandwich with slaw and a side of potato salad. I very questionably had the sliced brisket with fried corn and slaw, this automatically comes with it even though it 's not on the menu. The lady brought us our silverware and we were given a tray of sauces. Now I 'll start with what my husband had (the good news, if you will , the new was decent, nice flavor and the bun and meat quantity was good. The slaw was buried underneath the bqq, (who does that? Everything was decent, not amazing, but edible and tasty enough. Now I 'll move to mine (the bad news , sliced brisket covered in a very over powering sauce, served with sub par Cole slaw, with a corn muffin so dry that the sauce from my brisket couldn 't help and fried corn (basically we took corn and tossed it in butter and seasoning . The brisket was tender but it was covered in sauce. If you give people a try of sauces, let them choose what they want. The corn muffin was definitely microwaved. And I could still taste corn meal in the muffin which means it wasn 't mixed very well. The slaw didn 't have any zig or zip. Nothing. Nothing at all, boring. I will give you my break down of stars. Positive 1 star for good bbq 1 star for a good selection of sauces Negative Minus 1 for rude manager Minus 1 for the fact that it 's a bbq joint and they serve Korean food. I have nothing against Korean food, but it 's a bbq joint. Minus 1 for decor, music and the layout. Looks tacky, the have a sign that says be nice or leave REALLY ??? Overall you could skip this place and be okay.
Good restaurant and great butcher shop. Only place we pick up steaks. Oddly enough, they make the best kimchi we have had on the mainland. Highly recommend.
